About The

Second Age Project

The Second Age Project takes its name from Jacques' famous monologue - "all the world's a stage" - from Shakespeare's As You Like It.

The Second Age Project was established in 2012 to create training and performance opportunities for young people. Over the past ten years, this program has nurtured the talents and ambitions of hundreds of students, many of whom have now entered the arts industry as actors, directors, designers, technicians, and educators.

After a difficult two years of online classes, we are thrilled to announce that the 2022 Second Age Project will bring students together for in-person rehearsals. Our company is fortunate to have secured a temporary home at the Arts Domain in Surry Hills while our beautiful building across the road undergoes renovations.

One-on-one classes with one of our staff members can be made available for regional young actors, or those unable to participate in-person for other reasons.

"All the world's a stage

and all the men and women, merely players;

They have their exits and their entrances,

And one man in his time plays many parts,

His acts being seven ages..."

The Second Age is the school child with

'shining morning face'

testimonials

“Participating in Sport for Jove’s Second Age Project gave me the skills and connections to successfully audition for my first professional production. The classes sharpened my acting, reading, and confidence, preparing me to play Juliet in a mainstage production with Sport for Jove and later in their feature film, Venus & Adonis. The incredible teachers at Jove supported me, believed in me, and gave me every tool I needed to succeed. The environment they create makes students safe to experiment, fail gloriously, improve enormously, and make lasting friendships. Signing up was the best decision I ever made.”

— Claudia Elbourne (Second Age Project 2018-2020)

"Second Age Project is the best place for any young actor to begin their dream. During my time with the company, I learnt what it means to work in an ensemble and all the essential skills for an actor. My training led me perform in my first professional Shakespeare production, several commercials, and a TV show."

— Dinitha Senevirathne (Second Age Project 2015-2020)
