Of Mice And Men Press Release | Sport for Jove

The Seymour Centre and Sport of Jove Theatre Company are bringing to life one of the world’s most compelling tales of friendship and survival, OF MICE AND MEN.

Written and adapted for the stage by Nobel Prize winning author John Steinbeck, OF MICE AND MEN is one of the finest pieces of polarizing literature in history, serving as a striking indictment of how we treat our disenfranchised fringe dwellers, our migrant peoples and our most vulnerable citizens.

Set in the midst of the Great Depression, OF MICE AND MEN is a stunning portrayal of two displaced migrant workers, George and Lennie, and their great dream of one day squaring away their very own piece of land. Together, with nothing but a shared vision of a better future and the strength of their friendship, the pair embarks on a path through loneliness, oppression and uncertainty.

Director Iain Sinclair is set to breathe new life into the much-loved original stage adaptation of Steinbeck’s esteemed novella. Navigating its way through an era marred by despair, the play remains incredibly pertinent to our contemporary climate of economic, political and moral ambiguities. OF MICE AND MEN will star an immensely talented line up of talent including Anthony Gooley, Andrew Henry, Anna Houston, Charles Allen, Andre de Vanny, Christopher Stollery, John McNeil, Laurence Coy, Tom Stokes and Terry Serio.

Additionally, this will be the first time that a Sport for Jove Theatre production is performed outside of New South Wales, playing for 4 special shows and at the wonderful Playhouse Theatre in Canberra.
