Seanna van Helten | Biography

Seanna van Helten is a writer and co-Artistic Director of She Said Theatre. This is the premiere production of Fallen, following its first public reading last year at Festival Fatale (WITS), and development with Playwriting Australia and the National Script Workshop 2016, and at Victorian College of the Arts. Other works written for She Said Theatre include the award-winning and Green Room-nominated HART (co-written with performer Ian Michael), which premiered at Melbourne Fringe 2015, and is currently touring regional Victoria following seasons in Brisbane, Perth, South Australia and New Zealand; Laika and Wills (Melbourne Fringe 2013); and Breaking (co-authored and co-directed with Penny Harpham, Melbourne Fringe 2012). Seanna is currently developing Salt for the company, premiering later this year in Melbourne at La Mama Theatre. Seanna has also published writing in Griffith REVIEW and Voiceworks, contributed as an arts writer to Milk Bar Mag, and is the former Arts Editor of Brisbane’s Rave Magazine. She is a graduate of the University of Queensland and of the University of Melbourne, where she received the Percival Serle Prize. In 2014, Seanna completed the Master of Writing for Performance at the Victorian College of the Arts.
